Enrolled Agent
Welcome to our new location. Hope you enjoy our new building as much as I do.
I have lived in Banks County, Georgia all my life. My children and grandchildren also live there. My hobbies are crocheting, reading and playing the piano.
I graduated from Banks County High School in 1976, North Georgia Tech (1976) in Accounting, and have attended Truitt McConnell College and Piedmont College. In 2006 I passed the Internal Revenue Services Enrolled Agent exam.
I have been working in the accounting fields since 1978 and I have been preparing taxes since 1982. Over the years I have saw many changes with the tax laws, the greatest change for me was going from filling out paper returns and getting them ready for the mail — to electronically filing the returns. I enjoy all areas of income tax preparation, but in the last few years the ability to pay the Internal Revenue Service because of bankruptcy issues has been a challenge to learn.
In 2002 I was presented an award from the Internal Revenue Service for: Electronic Return Originator for the state of Georgia. This was a great honor for me. I was invited to National Conference in Atlanta, GA that year. I also had the honor of meeting a great number of Internal Revenue Service Agents from various levels. I met Mr. Pursely, Assistant Director of Internal Revenue Service and Mr. Terry Lutes, National Filing Director. Of the people I met that year a lady named Rose White Smith stands out the most, she helped with our questions, directed our daily activities during that time and still remembers my name when I see her.
I have been a member of the National Society of Tax Professionals and the National Association of Tax Professionals. Being a member of these organizations lets me have contacts to work with if a complicated situation arises and also provides some of the best training in the nation. I have had the pleasure to meet the national president Kathy Stanek of NATP when we were in conference in Austin, TX. The people you meet and interact with at the conferences can be your friends for life.
With the vast changes now and coming for the future, I will continue to take the training necessary to stay on top. My training has come thru the years with the University of GA, the University of South Carolina, the University of North Carolina and Agriculture Farm training. This training is something I have elected to do in the past even though it was not required and now that it is I will continue to do more.
Thanks for everyone’s support
Warmest Regards
Lou Ann Duckett
